I started writing just to kill time at one of my jobs. From what I can remember, I just started writing about a high school football game. From there, it evolved to dealings with one of the students. Then I added in some type of ability. When I started looking it over and reading what I had down, I liked it and wanted to take it further.

So, I put some more expansion into the story, I can't remember what now. So, at this point I had about six pages and read it, a few other people read it and asked me where's this going to go. This was on my days off so I relaxed and started to think a bit. I liked the concept of The X-men of how people grow into their abilities but I wanted something more.

As I was looking over the story (it didn't have a name at that point), I remembered something I heard about the character Spawn, he just woke up back in this world and he could do all of these abilities, plus he didn't know what else he could do. That kind of inspired me a bit.

So, at that point, I started focusing on building the characters. What they were liked, where they came from, idiosyncrasies and stuff like that. I wrote those down and then created a rough outline of the story, something I learned back in high school that works for me (thank you Mrs. Place).

With that all laid out, I sat down the next work day and began to write. The story just came out of me. Now I will say that there were times that I had writer's block and would get stuck but that happens to everyone.

Each of the main characters really is a part of me in some way. When I was hanging out with some of my friends, I was considered the normal one like John because I was putting myself through college, wanted to advance in my job and stuff like that. Me, normal, I laughed at it then and now.

Steve is my undying love of the South Florida sports teams and the desire to be greater than one's self. For the antagonist, Paul, I looked the people in my life who tormented me and took them to the extreme. Same with the situation in the high school and some of the other events.

If you asked me to write the same story again as it is now, I know that I couldn't write it. There's not much memory of what I write until I read it. The story goes from my mind where I visualize the scene in complete detail and write it out. So, it goes from my mind to my fingers and gone.
